ZPower President/CEO Selected for "Top Ten Technology" Panel at CES 2008
CAMARILLO, CA – December 10, 2007 – Are you curious to know what CES predicts as next year’s hot technologies? CES 2008 will include a session called “The Top 10 Technologies You’ve Never Heard Of” in which they’ll unveil their top picks for what consumers will soon flock to buy and what the big market drivers will be next year. Among the panelists for this CES session is Dr. Ross Dueber, President and CEO of ZPower, Inc., a provider of silver-zinc, rechargeable battery technology for portable electronics.
“ZPower is honored to participate at CES 2008,” said ZPower President and CEO Dr. Ross Dueber. “We believe our battery technology made the CES list of Top 10 Technologies because battery life for today’s mobile devices-- like notebook computers and cell phones-- is quickly becoming a critical factor. Since we first unveiled our technology at the Intel Developers Forum in 2006, our batteries now offer significantly more power and improved performance. We’ve made these enhancements while focusing on consumer safety and manufacturing a product that is environmentally responsible. ”
ZPower batteries offer up to 40% more run time than traditional lithium-ion batteries. Additionally, ZPower™ batteries offer an inherently safe technology which features a water-based chemistry that is not flammable. The battery contains no lithium or flammable liquids and is therefore free from the problems of thermal runaway and fire.
ZPower™ batteries also offer consumers an environmentally friendly alternative. The primary elements used to produce the batteries can be recycled and re-used. The raw materials recovered in the recycling process of silver-zinc batteries are the same quality as those that went into the creation of the battery. Environmental impact is lessened since the need to mine for new materials is minimized. The company plans to offer incentives so consumers can save money by recycling the batteries.
ZPower was selected in September by AlwaysOn as one of the “GoingGreen 100 Top Private Companies” in the Energy Storage category for 2007. Dr. Dueber was a featured speaker in the Extended Battery Life (EBL) panel at the Fall 2007 Intel Developer Forum. ZPower won Intel’s “Technology Innovation Accelerated” (TIA) Award in the Mobility category at IDF 2006. Dr. Dueber has also spoken at the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) about silver-zinc rechargeable battery technology and at the 24th International Battery Seminar & Exhibit.
ZPower is currently working with leading manufacturers of notebook computers, cell phones, and smart phones to incorporate silver-zinc technology in next generation products. The company will begin high volume production of ZPower™ batteries in mid 2008.
The CES 2008 session “Top 10 Technologies You’ve Never Head of,” will be held on January 7th at noon at the Las Vegas Convention Center’s North Hall, room N255.
ZPower will also be on hand at the ShowStoppers@CES event on January 7th from 6-10pm at the Wynn Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
